The structural form and quantity of the test bench shall be selected according to the type of engine (gasoline engine or diesel engine), production program, test time (beat), etc. Generally speaking, the test bench has three categories: fixed type, rotary type and hanging type.

① Fixed engine test bench. The engine shall be placed on the test bench fixed on the ground and tested with various loading equipment (dynamometer) fixed on the bench.

The even type test bed is one of the fixed type test beds. The so-called "even type" means that there are two test engines on the test bench at the same time, and the engine of the hot running in test drives another engine to carry out the cold running in test. The engine after the cold running in test drives another engine to carry out the cold running in test during the hot running in test, and so on. This type of test bench is mostly used in the delivery test of small and medium horsepower gasoline engines without load.

② Rotary table engine test bench. Several test benches are set on the disk rotating around the vertical axis (the number of benches is determined according to the test program of the engine). The test engine on the test bench rotates with the disk together with the bench and completes the delivery test of the engine during the rotation. In order to adapt to the changes of the test program, the rotating speed of the disk can be adjusted within a certain range. This type of test bench is mostly used in the delivery test of gasoline engines and some small diesel engines that do not need to carry out loading test.

③ Suspension engine test bench. This type of test bench is mostly used in the production and assembly of the engine using the suspension assembly conveyor line. That is, after the engine is assembled on the suspended assembly conveyor line, continue to run forward to the engine test area, connect with the suspended test settings and various pipelines, and complete the test work on the suspension chain.
